This course provides students with knowledge about entrepreneurial process within the healthcare business, including opportunity recognition, feasibility analysis and the development of an effective business model. Students will be learning about preparing a viable business proposal for a new venture and are expected to be actively involved in the process of planning and launching a venture and conduct a thorough analysis of the functional areas of their proposed business. The knowledge obtained from this course provides students with the opportunity to visualize the viability of their business ideas.
This course covers the fundamental theories and practical application of finance and management accounting. Major topics covered in the management accounting part include analysis of product costs, application of overhead costs, synthesis and evaluation of profits, budgets, performance and strategic decisions. Students are initially exposed to the capital markets and financial valuation models for capital assets. Capital structure and capital budgeting decisions are subsequently analyzed followed by issues of dividend distribution and evaluation. Financing and cash management concludes the first part of the course. skills and technical knowledge are continuously enhanced through case analysis based on current and emerging issues. Students are assigned projects to analyze and demonstrate their reporting skill as part of the course requirement.
