As a senior lecturer at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Dr. Intan has played a transformative role in shaping the next generation of media practitioners. She is the architect behind numerous innovative teaching modules—most notably the Live-Broadcast Module and the Millennial Announcer Competition—which redefined student assessment through alternative, performance-based methods. Her innovations won  Anugerah khas YB Menteri Pendidikan Tinggi Rekabentuk Kurikulum  & Penyampaian Inovatif (AKRI) and earned her the prestigious international award Excellence in Transformative Futuristic Curriculum Design Award – IUCEL 2024, underscoring her impact on Malaysia’s higher education landscape.

Beyond pedagogy, Dr. Intan is at the forefront of research on 5G, 5G Broadcast, and Over-the-Top (OTT) technologies in the radio industry. Her work critically examines the adoption preferences, challenges, and opportunities of digital migration in broadcasting. By employing rigorous mixed-method approaches—including Delphi techniques, in-depth interviews, and test-bed studies—she provides insights that bridge academia, industry, and policy-making.Her scholarship has contributed significantly to international debates on digital transformation, resilience, and the sustainability of radio in the 5G era.

Her academic influence extends to broader socio-economic contexts, where she champions the role of radio and community broadcasting in advancing the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 11 (Sustainable Communities), and SDG 13 (Climate Action). Through her research on community radio in Sabah and her leadership of UMSfm as a living lab, she has elevated the station from a campus initiative into an internationally recognized model of talent development and community empowerment.
