PH710303 Family Health Policies & Practices is a 3-credit core course in the Doctor of Public Health programme. The course provides advanced knowledge and practical skills in family health policies, programmes, and services. It covers important areas including maternal and child health, reproductive health and family planning, adolescent health, ageing and geriatric care, nutrition, immunisation, gender and reproductive rights, population policy, advocacy, and sustainable family health development.


Students will learn how to evaluate family health policies and programmes using appropriate evidence, tools, techniques, and established standards. The course also develops skills in strategic planning, leadership, collaboration, professionalism, and partnership when addressing family health issues. Students will apply their knowledge through lectures, small-group discussions, seminars, field visits, presentations, projects, assignments, and examinations. The overall aim is to prepare students to manage family health challenges effectively and contribute to the development and improvement of family health policies and services at local, national, and international levels.
