This course will expose students on the biodiversity of tropical forest and its' importance towards nature environment and the influence of human in biodiversity destruction. Issues on biodiversity threats which includes endangered species and problems faced in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems will be discussed. Emphasize will be given towards biodiversity assessment, design planning of protected areas and management of protected areas in an effort to conserve biodiversity at the species, population and community level. The role of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) in the management of protected areas and biodiversity, efforts in conserving biodiversity at the government and international level, as well as issues pertaining conservation and future challenges will also be discussed.
