This course is designed for students who have zero background in the Mandarin language with a focus on reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills. The course begins with the introduction of the Chinese language with its pronunciation system and writing rules. Basic vocabulary, daily conversational expressions, and Chinese sentence structures will be introduced gradually and progressively.
This course also exposes students to some aspects of Chinese culture. Regular attendance in classes (3 hours a week), submission of course work, attendance in oral and listening tests, written communication assessments 1 and 2 are compulsory for the successful completion of this course.
