The course examines the importance of contemporary issues and approaches in travel and transportation from the tourism perspectives. This course intoduces the link of transport infrastructures, demand and supply issues in tourism transportation and the impact on the human and environment of the tourism industry. Students are exposed to key operational issues including the challenges within which the tourist transport provision takes place, the factors influencing sustainable tourist-oriented transport services in destinations and the changing nature of the travel and transport systems.
This course is designed to expose students to understand the tourism business and practices process as well as the trends and modern travel and dimensions of tourism. It gives the perspective of what tourism means to countries, environments, and cultures. In addition, students will also learn the context and structure of tourism, attractions, planning and development, business functions and challenges, regulations and laws as well as customer service. At the end of this course, the student should be able to plan and propose a feasible tourism business project while analyzing emerging trends in the tourism industry.
This course provides a practical view of tourism operations and management from the perspective of travel intermediaries. This course provides the framework within which travel distribution occurs. Students will be introduced to the principles and practices of travel intermediaries exploring relevant theoretical concepts and current industry practices, with a focus on tour operators and travel agents. This includes the roles and responsibilities of travel intermediaries, travel formalities, itinerary planning, marketing, customer service skills as well as emerging trends within the travel industry.
