
This course covers the fundamental theories and practical
application of finance and management accounting. Students are initially
exposed to the capital markets and financial valuation models for capital
assets. Capital structure and capital budgeting decisions are subsequently
analyzed followed by issues of dividend distribution and evaluation.
Financing and cash management concludes the first part of the course.
Major topics covered in the management accounting part include analysis
of product costs, application of overhead costs, synthesis and evaluation
of profits, budgets, performance and strategic decisions. Students’ skills
and technical knowledge are continuously enhanced through case analysis
based on current and emerging issues. Students are assigned projects to
analyze and demonstrate their reporting skill as part of the course
requirement.
