This course focuses on the fundamentals of entrepreneurial finance. It provides students with an intense overview of key financing aspects for an entrepreneurial venture and covers in detail the essential financial sources related to entrepreneurial financing throughout a venture life cycle, such as bootstrapping, microfinancing, crowdfunding, business angels, and government grant. Topics include organising and financing a new venture, measuring and evaluating financial performance, structuring financing, harvesting the business venture investment and other related issues. The student will learn this course through case analysis, examination and undertaking a business activity.
This course focuses on the key aspects of financing for an entrepreneurial venture and covers in detail the essential financial sources related to entrepreneurial financing throughout a venture life cycle, such as bootstrapping, microfinancing, crowdfunding, business angels, and government grant. Topics include organising and financing a new venture, measuring and evaluating financial performance, structuring financing, harvesting the business venture investment and other related issues. The course addresses key questions which challenge student’s understanding and cognitive, i.e. how much money can and should be raised; when should it be raised and from whom; what is a reasonable project implementation for the business; and how should funding, business operation and exit decisions be structured in 5 years plan.
Strategic entrepreneurship (SE) involves simultaneous opportunity-seeking and advantage-seeking behaviors and results in superior firm performance. An entrepreneurial mindset, an entrepreneurial culture and entrepreneurial leadership, the strategic management of resources and applying creativity to develop innovations are important dimensions of SE. This course aims to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies to adequately address the challenges in making strategic options for a venture. This is done by offering a strong theoretical foundation on strategic entrepreneurship, combined with practical applications in real-life settings, where the student are requires to organise business activity in an expo. The capstone project exposes students with the process of becoming an entrepreneur by fostering their critical and creative thinking, improving their decision-making skills and enhancing their ability to delegate and manage a project responsibly.
