The course covers knowledge on the functions and importance of natural resources and the environment related issues. Management strategies will be taught that would enable the students to apply them in environmental decision making. Awareness and auditing in Environmental Management System (ISO14001: 2015) will be extensively covered. Other topics related to sustainable cities, biodiversity management, sustainable development goals are also introduced with a local and global context. Besides that, this course also emphasizes the need to deal with people in managing environmental problems and the importance of education for the promotion of sustainable development and sustainability.
This course prepares the student to a variety of analytical techniques and instruments utilized in environmental analysis. It is designed to couple theory of equipment operation and their applications in the fields of environmental studies.
This course covers theoretical and practical aspects of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and project management. Topic discussed in the course includes EIA legislations, procedures and EIA project management in Malaysia. This course will emphasize on the environmental management aspect in a project cycle. Case study scenarios will be explored as part of the practical activities to enhance the understanding of the EIA as an environmental management tool. The students will be exposed to EIA concepts and methodologies that can assist identification of environmental impacts and designing suitable mitigation methods. Through this course, students will learn various skills and knowledge to prepare themselves to become environmental officers or consultants as topics related to monitoring, auditing, review and EIA project management will also be covered.
This course at the end will help the students to be a competent Safety, Health and Environmental Officer (SHE Officer) upon passing the SHO examination and registration with DOSH.
Students will learn the principles related to occupational, safety and health administration with particular emphasis on the environmental aspects. The various activities such as lecture, group discussion and project will prepare the students to be a competent Safety, Health, and Environmental Officer (SHE Officer) upon passing the SHO examination and registration with DOSH.
