This course will help in understanding the basic principles of mineralogy and petrography for igneous and metamorphic rocks. This include the determination of the optical properties of the silicate minerals, identify the type of textures and minerals that form the rocks. Through the determination of texture, mineralogy and geochemistry the igneous and metamorphic rocks can be classify.
