The course will examine scientific foundations and provide an understanding of the mechanisms by which the body functions during exercise and physical activity. Topics of discussion include the function of the cardiovascular, respiratory, musculoskeletal, neural, and endocrine systems, the acute and chronic responses, and energy production in exercise and training.
Welcome to the course on Sociology of Sports. The course is designed to help students describe and explain the emergence and diffusion of sport over time and across different societies while also identifying the processes of socialization into, through, and out of modern sports. The students will also be encouraged to act as an advocate for athletes' rights and responsibilities as well as promote human development as opposed to performance efficiency models within physical education and sports science.
