Course Synopsis:
This module provides knowledge and skills of nursing practice in paediatric context. This course covered topics regarding the principles of paediatric nursing, the pathophysiology, clinical manifestation, and medical management of children with various health conditions and nursing management for children with various health conditions.
Course learning outcome (CLO):
At the end of this course, the students will be able to:
CLO1: Explain risk factors, causes, clinical manifestation, investigation and medical or surgical management of the common medical, surgical, or congenital disorder in children. (C2, PLO1)
CLO2: Discuss the nursing management of newborn care, common medical, surgical or congenital disorder in children. (C3, PLO2)
CLO3: Discuss in group on children with medical, surgical or congenital disorder in children and basic procedure for pediatric care via group presentation (A3, PLO6).
MN20804 MEDICAL SURGICAL NURSING PRACTICE III

This module emphasizes clinical manifestation, characteristics, pathophysiology, diagnostic investigation, and nursing management for patients with endocrine, gastrointestinal tract, genitourinary and reproductive disorders. The student is expected to be able to make nursing diagnoses and formulate nursing care plans for the topics listed in the table of contents. The care given is according to specific nursing management and diseases in those systems which will converge together with the specific nursing procedures.
This course is to expose
students to the knowledge and the principles of nursing ethics. Students are
expected to acquire the skill of ethical decision making based on the principle
of nursing code of ethics. They also need to understand the law in nursing that
regulates nurses’ conduct and the legal roles of a nurse in minimizing lawsuits
