NT10102 ASAS SAINS MAKANAN DAN PEMAKANAN [1-2025/2026]
The course will provide students with fundamental knowledge on the major food composition, functionality of food components as ingredients in food, food microbiology (including food safety), food processing and preservation as well as nutrition. It involves the understanding the nature of food, the causes of its deterioration and the principles underlying food processing. The basic knowledge gained could be used to improve the safety, nutrition and affordability of foods. Teaching and learning strategies include interactive lectures and case study discussions. Assessment methods comprise written tests, quiz and assignments. The course also integrates digital technology through online learning platforms, and other skills such as critical thinking.
