As a result of the strong developments that have taken place in telecommunications and transportation, the world seems to have shrunk and is often referred to as a ‘global village’. This has brought about an increased interaction between managers from various cultures. The increase in the number and strength of multinational corporations from America, Europe, Japan, South Korea and emerging market nations has often times brought about a clash with local cultures. As a result, it is important that managers of today understand culture and the implications of culture in the development of individual and group culture as well as management style. This course will emphasize on the differences in management practices as a result of differences in culture. Focus will be given towards looking at the differences between the Western and Eastern management styles. Topics that will be discussed include the interaction between culture and organization, strategy and culture, human resource and culture, leadership and culture, as well as on communication and negotiation. Class discussions will focus on the practices of Western multinational and Eastern multinational corporations.

Course Description:
This course aims to expose and educate students on the effective communication techniques used daily and for public speaking and elocution. Students will learn the language style and methods to choose suitable contents for public speaking. In class, students will be asked to familiarize themselves in speaking, building confidence and being smart in choosing the right words and sentence to convey specific meaning. Soft skills are a very important thing in this course, not only do we learn in speaking, but we will also learn soft skills for how to be someone who has various skills in the future.

| GB32403 - Final Year Project 2 (FYP2) is a capstone course designed to develop students’ research, analytical, and academic writing skills. It builds upon the foundation laid in Final Year Project 1 (FYP1), guiding students through the final stages of their research project, including data collection, analysis, discussion of findings, and report writing. Students will apply research methodologies, analyze numerical and graphical data, and present their findings in a structured and coherent manner. The course emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, personal responsibility, and ethical considerations in research. Throughout the semester, students will receive continuous feedback from supervisors to refine their work. Electronic Payment is essential to online transactions. The emergence of e-commerce or e-business which is encouraged by advancement of Internet technology has forced the industry players to look for other new alternatives to fulfil the needs of electronic payment. In this course, a few electronic payment methods would be discussed including credit card based online payment, digital check, and digital cash, e-payment based on debit cards, smart cards, prepaid cards, pay-by-phone service and micropayments. Security is one of the major emphases in this course. The security requirements for e-payment or e-commerce such as message privacy, message integrity, authentication, authorization and non-repudiation will be discussed. The course is also attempting to give students the broad and comprehensive understanding in determining the risks for consumers and businesses that involved in electronic payment.
1.0 COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is to study the clinical disorder caused by abnormal changes in structure, function and bone biochemistry, muscle, joints and skin. Clinical disorders that will be discussed are including rheumatoid arthritis, gout, psoriasis, osteoarthritis, osteomyelitis, and tumours, etc. These discussions will cover organ / tissue that involved aetiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, laboratory investigation, and treatment. The prevention of clinical disorder will also be discussed.
2.0 COURSE OBJECTIVES:
The program is expected to ensure the students be able to:
- understand and appreciate the clinical disorders resulting from abnormal changes in the structure, function, and biochemistry of the muscles, skin, bones and joints.
- understand the importance of clinical disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, gout, psoriasis , osteoarthritis, tumours, etc.
- study and understand the organs and tissues involved as well as the relevant pathogenesis, laboratory investigations, and treatment.
- study and understand the prevention of clinical disorders.

OGSP MM50310 is a module prepared for UMS final year undergraduates medical students to provide them with adequate clinical exposure, understand more basic physiology in obstetrics and gynaecology disorder as well as improve their communication skill towards patients and and medical communities. In this nine week rotation, they will be guided through lectures that emphasizes diseases and its management, bed side teaching in the hospital, ward rounds and ward work in the hospital such as observing or assisting in normal delivery, observing and assisting in delivery of placenta and repair of perineum. They also will be exposed to common ward procedures such as blood taking, CTG application and interpretation, induction of labour ,management of normal and abnormal labour and basic observation in postnatal ward. In the clinic they will learn and observe outpatient cases and also will learn cases for hysteroscopy and colposcopy.
At the end of this posting, they will be assessed via completion of log book and viva, theory papers such as One Best Answer (OBA), Modified Essay Question (MEQ) and Long Essay Questions (LEQ). To assess their history and physical examination skills, a clinical exam with real patient will be held and an OSCE will also be provided.
By the end of this course participants should be able to :
1. Describe adequate basic science and clinical knowledge in common obstetrics and gynaecological condition.
2. perform standard clinical skills of history taking, physical examination and procedures in common obstetric and gynaecological conditions

The course emphasis is on importance of food safety and legislative systems in ensuring foods sold in the market are safe and achieve certain minimum standards. The content covers food policy and regulations in the country (Food Act 1983 and Food Regulations 1985) as well as other international standards or guidelines by international organizations such as Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC), World Health Organization (WHO) and Food & Drug Administration (FDA) for global trade in foods. Students will be exposed to food safety and quality system (GMP, HACCP, ISO 22000, Halal) and guidelines on import requirements of some countries. In addition, students will be introduced with various aspects of quality assurance and its roles in food industry particularly on certain high-risk foods such as poultry and meat products, dairy products and vegetables/fruits. Graduate competency on legislative issues and standards of foods is important to ensure food produced follow strictly to the specification and standards, either for domestic uses or export markets.
This course is a continuation of the physiology component of NN10103 (Anatomy and Physiology) taken in the first semester. This semester, emphasis is on human pathophysiology, including aetiology, prognosis, medical treatment, signs and symptoms of common diseases of all body systems.
The course discusses the biomolecules and their chemistries in reactions that facilitate the processes in living/biological systems. The syllabus includes amino acids, proteins, enzymes, carbohydrates and lipid. The structures, mechanisms, and control of these components are discussed. The energy consumption/generation and electron transfer in metabolisms such as the glycolytic pathway, the citric acid cycle, and the oxidative phosphorylation are also discussed. The metabolisms of Lipid and amino acid are also discussed.
Comparative literature is the study of literature from around the world, transcending the restrictions of national and linguistic boundaries. Traditionally, comparative study was based on literary movements, periods and lines of influence, as well as on genres, themes, myths, and legends. In recent years comparative literature has come to include the comparison of literature with other areas of human experience. Comparative literature offers students the opportunity to study a broad range of literary subjects from various cultures throughout the world. Courses are offered in European literature from ancient to contemporary times; in the literature of Asia, Africa, and Latin America; in folk literature, legend, fantasy, and science fiction; in literary theory; and in special topics such as travel literature, literature and existentialism, and Malaysian literature and film (especially P.Ramlee’s work). All reading is done in English translation. The comparative literature is used as preparation for the single subject (secondary school) teaching credential in English language.
This course aims to equip students with the advanced skills needed for academic reading. A variety of texts from a range of disciplines will be used as materials in teaching this course. Students will be taught to use strategies that will be useful to them when reading academic texts related to their main course of study. Some of the reading skills are predicting outcomes, making inferences, and interpreting the text. This course also aims to teach students listening comprehension of both formal and informal situations. Listening comprehension will be advanced using a more principled manner appropriate to the MUET format. Skills to be taught are recalling information, paraphrasing, predicting outcomes, distinguishing facts from opinions, summarizing, and drawing conclusions.
Course Synopsis:
This course is designed to equip students to meet the workplace's English language needs and demands by building effective oral and written communication skills. They learn to prepare, process, and produce relevant documents and conduct activities commonly practised at the workplace. The general objective of the course is to prepare students to attain Level B2 of the Common European Framework of References (CEFR). Among the activities are practising relevant expressions used at the workplace, preparing formal and informal documents, giving informative presentations, and developing job-seeking skills.

Thus, after completing this course, students are equipped with fundamental characteristics on the role of media in the society.
